In this pictorial presentation, William Ayers covers things about his journey as a teacher in the early days, unflinchingly denounces the problems originated by “conventional teaching” how it hinders students from developing their talent and painting the world as they see it. He often finds himself stupefied by teaching standards set by state which he considers a “non-factor” when it comes to good teaching methods. But always find his way out by letting his students be advocates rather than just learners.

Also, in this comical publication, Ayers uses satirical remarks to separate the infinite knowledge to that of finite and asserts that teachers are an entire universe and that children will learn better when the topic is relative to their experiences and options are given to them. William sets the record straight-forward with wit and lucidity that readers will find compelling and even at some point would want to join in with him in his crusade.

Ayers also criticizes the myths in education and depicts that teachers have to possess practical and emotional intelligence in order to be able to make teaching an adventure rather than a burden for them as well as for students and that the importance of the relationship between the teacher and the student is vital to education. Ayers provides a digestible and fluid work that allows all possible readers (Future teacher, teachers, parents alike) of his work the ability to act with real-life references of teachers and institutions that have answered the "Challenge to Act" and model "Democratic teaching in action".
